Martin, Skerritt Appointed Speaker and Deputy Speaker Of The House

St. Kitts & Nevis - March 10, 2010 (WINN): Curtis Martin was appointed Speaker of the House earlier this morning and Senator Ricky Skerritt as Deputy Speaker during the opening of the National Assembly. In order to take the position, Senator Skerritt had to resign his position as Minister of Tourism, which he was appointed at the swearing-in of the Cabinet of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis. Attorney General and Member of Parliament for Nevis 11 announced that Senator Skerritt had officially resigned his position, though he did not say when this was done. It is also not certain at this time, who is the Minister of Tourism. Meanwhile, some local journalists who were covering the opening of the National Assembly this morning were barred from chambers and were told to monitor the proceedings from the media room.
