St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): A popular restaurateur was beaten and robbed in his home this past week, his assailants making off with his day’s take.
WINN FM understands that Kevin Walters, the owners of Boozie’s on the Frigate Bay Strip, was confronted by two men inside his Ocean Gardens home when he returned from the restaurant.
Reports are that the intruders gained access by breaking into a bedroom window. One is said to have been armed with a gun, the other was wielding a knife and a rock.
Mr. Walters was badly beaten, his attackers making off with an undisclosed sum of money.
He was taken to the JNF Hospital for treatment and was later released.
Speaking to WINN FM on Saturday morning, Commissioner of Police Ian Queeley confirmed that the incident had occurred on Thursday night.
“I want to make an appeal to our people, because if things like this happen in your neighbourhood we must be looking out for our neighbours…we must be our neighbour’s keepers and so I want that kind of spirit to develop, and we’re going to lead the charge in the coming year, assisting communities in setting up neighbourhood watches, all those crime fighting initiatives that we think are necessary to reduce illegal activities,” the Commissioner said.
The Commissioner told WINN FM that he would be visiting Mr. Walters personally.
“To reassure him, and I want to thank him also for coming forward and relating to the Police, the incident.”
