St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): A McKnight teenager said to be a Dominicano who has been residing in St. Kitts most of her life, was caught over the weekend trying to smuggle cocaine into the federation via the Vance Amory International Airport.

18-year-old Brittany Paola Peets of Malone Avenue reportedly arrived in Nevis on Friday (Feb 24) on a flight from St. Maarten when she detained on suspicion of  possession of a controlled substance by Police and Customs officers .

A search of her luggage turned up several packages of cocaine.

Peets, a student of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, was taken into custody and subsequently charged with Possession of Cocaine,  Possession of Cocaine with intent to supply, and Importation of Cocaine. Police say other charges are likely to be filed by the Customs Service.

Peets was taken before the Charlestown Magistrate Court Tuesday for a bail application.

Up until press time it was not clear if the magistrate was able to hear the matter.
