St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The three-party Team Unity coalition remains united and is working in the interest of the people, according to Tourism Minister Lindsay Grant.

The minister says despite the skepticism of the coalition’s critics, it has been working well for the past two years.

“The naysayers out there thought team Unity couldn’t work, and the reason why they thought Team Unity couldn’t work was because we had a mindset for the last several decades that we can’t come together and so they thought it couldn’t work, but it has been here working for two years and working well. I am not going to stand here and tell you it is all smooth going, because even in a marriage you have rough times, but the beauty about it is that the end of it is that we produce for the people of the country.”

According to Minister Grant, decisions by the government are taken in the interest of the people.

“It is about you the people who we are committed to work for, it is you we are working for, and so I want to tell you that in the government we make sure that we talk in the government. We make sure that everything we do in the government it is one thing we are thinking about, whether or not it is for the betterment of the people of the country. If it is not for the betterment of the people of the country we are not doing that. If it is to further the people in the country then we do that and so some decisions will be taken by the government that people may not like, but really those decisions are taken with the best interest of the majority of people in mind. So I want you to take that into consideration.”

The minister was speaking during the current series of Town Hall meetings.

If you do could, the people will praise you; and remember whatever you do, do it as unto God.
Self praise is no praise; forget self and focus on
God and our Federation.

All Team Unity has to do is keep producing. The proof is in the production. Yesterday is dead and gone and tomorrow is out of sight, so just make today right. Pay less attention to those who squandered a 20 year opportunity to implement programs they are now saying should be implemented, but remember to waste little time in bringing to fruition these ideas that were so loudly articulated when Team Unity was in opposition.

Here is someone who was in power through four UK Prime Ministers, four Canadian Prime Ministers and three US Presidents. In 20 years, which is over 7000 days, children were born and also have children of their own. also parents become grand parents. Promises made in opposition in 1995 along with other promises during the time in office were not kept. Now just under 750 days for the new administration an epiphany has suddenly arrived and there is a realization that Integrity in Public Life should be enacted. Now here is a speedy Gonzalez who wants to see things that were not done under a 20 year watch get done in 2 years. And while I felt that it should have been the first thing that Team Unity did when it got into office, one still have to wonder why it was not done in the previous 20 years. This sounds more like bitter instead of devising ways to make the Federation better.
