St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN); Antigua national Greg Williamson, convicted of drug smuggling in St. Kitts, left St. Kitts on Friday after paying a $30,000 fine.

On March 10 Williamson was convicted at the magistrate court of Importation of Cannabis, Importation with intent to supply and possession of cannabis relating to an October 2015 drug bust on Conaree Beach.

He was jointly charged with Kenrick Simmonds and Tenielle Percival of St. Kitts.

Williamson, who had been on remand since the drug bust, was fined $30,000 to be paid in one month or in default serve 23 months in jail.

Simmonds, convicted for aiding and abetting his co-defendants, was fined $300,000 to be paid in 5 months or in default serve 4 years in prison, while Percival was fined $60,000 to be paid in 3 months or in default serve 4 years in prison.

Dr. Henry Browne QC, attorney for Simmonds and Percival, filed an appeal against their conviction shortly after the trial.
