St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Talent Search Finals which took place at the ECCB Auditorium, featured participants from primary schools performing in the categories of dance, poetry and vocal music, and secondary school contestants competing in instrumental music, dance, and vocal music.
The Immaculate Conception Catholic School’s Cajoy Isaac took first place in dance, Cayon Primary’s D’Jaaden Dunrod won the poetry section, and first place in vocal music was Newton Ground Primary’s Luan Hinds for the primary school unit.
From the High School section, Washington Archibald High’s April Burt won the dance category, Verchilds High’s Petros Peets secured first place for instrumental music, and the Immaculate Conception Catholic School’s Christianne Skerrit and Verchilds High School’s Drenyqua Samuels won the vocal music category in a historic tie.
Carol Phillips, President-elect of the Rotary Club of Liamiuga said the Talent Search illustrated the bounds of talent hidden in the young people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
“Well I think we had faith reconfirmed that there is talent in our young people in the federation. There were some very excellent performances by all levels of students at the high school and the primary school level and they really came and did their best on stage. We couldn’t award everybody and the points were pretty close in some of the areas. All in all, it was a good show and I hope that we can continue it because our young people really need this kind of exposure.”
This year’s edition Rotary Club of Liamuiga’s Talent Search Competition for Primary and High Schools marked a return of the event after a two-year hiatus.
