St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Some eight thousand marijuana plants went up in smoke Wednesday, as police destroyed these plants reported to have been seized during operations and patrols over the past few months.
According to the police, the large quantity of marijuana was subjected to a controlled burn by the Anti Drug Unit/Special Services Unit.
The police have indicated that the cannabis destroyed at a secured location on Wednesday included plants of varying sizes and marijuana packaged for sale.
This is the second such activity for the year – the police recall having destroyed over 2000 plants earlier.
The law enforcement officers have said that their forays against marijuana are ongoing.
Acting Inspector Reynold Myers is quoted as saying “we will continue to search, and when we find we will uproot, seize and burn. It is our goal to rid our communities of illegal drugs and instruments that can be used to commit crimes”.
