St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): China has promised an official statement on the St Kitts fugitive issue this week.

Chinese diplomats in the region are quoted as saying that China will this week issue a formal statement on the issue.

Ren Biao is accused of stealing over 100 million US dollars from a Chinese state company.

Ren is on an Interpol wanted list.

The Team Unity government says it cannot hand him over without due process.

Callers to WINN FM’s Voices programme on Monday (May 8) weighed in on the issue.

One higher up on the Opposition was critical of the current government for as the person claimed is responsible for the low number of persons becoming citizens under CBI, and went as far as to say that the previous government was processing many more through CBI. The person went on to say that programs were cut under the current government because of the drop in revenue from CBI that was used to fund programs. But the person failed to keep in mind that the more people processed under CBI, the higher the probability of undesirables getting through. Both current and past administrations share in this fiasco because the Chinese person in question became a citizen under the previous administration so their fingers are also in the vise grip.
