St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Premier Vance Amory has been speaking about the crime situation in the federation.
The premier spoke to the issue during a meeting with the Nevis Division of the St Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
“We want to have a consistency in the approach to doing patrols, and working in the community. A lot has been said about community policing and that is something we encourage very strongly and ask the police to get to know the people whom they are serving in the community. I feel that if we are able to get the police to develop that trust of the people in the community, we may move from the anecdotal that such and such a person is involved in criminal activity, to getting the hard evidence supplied by those in the community who know, so that we might be able to 1) prevent if something is in the making, 2) get the information and the evidence to do the arrest and do the conviction of anyone who is involved in criminality.”
Premier Amory’s crime concerns were carried Wednesday on Nevis Television NTv8.
