St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN); Starting next week, St. Kitts will host the opening matches of the Afghanistan tour of the West Indies with three Twenty20 international matches between Afghanistan and the West Indies cricket teams slated for Warner Park.
The tour begins on Tuesday, May 30, with WICB President’s XI versus Afghanistan.
The first of the Twenty20 internationals is scheduled for Friday, June 2nd at 9am; followed by the second match on Saturday, June 3 at 10:30am; and the final match on Monday, June 5, also at 10:30am.
Leading batsman Carlos Brathwaite will captain the 13-member Windies squad for the upcoming three-match T20 Series against Afghanistan.
The other members of the squad are Samuel Badree, Ronsford Beaton, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Jerome Taylor, Chadwick Walton, and Kesrick Williams.
The tour then moves to St. Lucia when West Indies will face Afghanistan in three One Day Internationals on June 9, 11 and 14.
Minister of Sport, Deputy Prime Minister Shawn Richards is encouraging fans to attend the matches being held in St. Kitts. He pointed out that normally cricket fans would have to incur the cost of travel and accommodation to see international cricket matches, so therefore the people of St. Kitts and Nevis should take advantage of the opportunity when games are being hosted in the federation.
