St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN); A 23-year- old young man from Upper College Street has been charged with murder in connection with Tuesday’s fatal shooting at the JN France Hospital.
Charged is Shakeem “Lil Nozzle” Mitchum-Cranston. He is accused of gunning down 31-year-old Darnell Govia of Phillips’ Village.
Just before 9am Tuesday, Govia was outside the JNF lab waiting for a friend who was having tests done inside, when a man walked up to him and opened fire, striking him multiple times about his body. Govia succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.
Cranston was apprehended shortly after the incident on Tuesday morning as a result of a quick and coordinated response by officers of the Special Services Unit and the St. Johnson's Police Station.
Cranston was himself a victim of a shooting in October 2015 in the same village where Govia lived. Cranston was ambushed early one evening by three masked men, who pumped several shots into his small frame.
On Friday Police also informed that they have laid a murder charge against 18-yearold Ivan “Chinyman” Phillip of St. Johnston Village, in connection to the death of 17-year-old Leanna Napoleon. Phillip turned himself in to police on Wednesday after they informed on Monday they were looking for him and intended to charge him with murder. He is the third person to be charged in that case.
