St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN):Antiguan political analyst Avrel Grant is suggesting that political parties in St. Kitts and Nevis should not take the impending general election lightly. “Dr. Douglas ought to be aware of the fact that he has been around for a long time, almost an ineffective generation now...we have seen it with the PNP in Jamaica, with the Barbados Labour Party; we’ve seen how hard it has been for people to go beyond four terms,” Grant said.
He noted that while it may seem that the Prime Minister has lost his luster, he should never be underestimated. “If the electors are like the electors in other parts of the Caribbean, Denzil Douglas will have to work night and day, non-stop to keep the winds of change from blowing him out of office. But as I said he is the sitting prime minister and he has ways and means at his disposal that those in opposition ought to be painfully aware of.” Speaking on WINN FM’s The Bigger Picture with Ken Richards on Sunday, Mr. Grant gave his view on the motion of no confidence.
