Music Festival "Ready for the Road"

Music Festival Stage 2013

St. Kitts and Nevis (INN):  St. Kitts and Nevis Road March Champions the Small Axe Band will kick of the 17th Annual St. Kitts Music Festival tonight, opening the show at 8:00 p.m. in a move designed to get patrons to the venue early.

Tonight’s lineup also includes the Kore Band, Nu Vybes Band International, Faye- Ann Lyons, her husband Bunji Garlin, and her father soca icon Super Blue, the Grand Masters and Kollision Band.

“We mix the best from St. Kitts and Nevis with the best of the Caribbean and we invite the rest of the world to share in this wonderful celebration,” Tourism Minister Richard Skerritt said speaking at an artiste’s press conference Thursday morning.

“What we’re tried to do is move the festival from just being a show, just being a concert.  For it to be an experience.  That’s why our theme is An Experience like No Other.  We say you come to the St. Kitts Music Festival and you experience a wonderful, enjoyable celebration of people coming together.”

Senator Skerritt made another appeal to the St. Kitts and Nevis public Thursday to support soca.

“If you want the soca night to live, you got and put your money where your mouth is, you got to come out and support soca.  Soca is our thing, soca is the Caribbean thing…soca has to grow if the Caribbean story is going to be told properly around the world.”
