National Carnival Queen Awarded Best Evening Wear in St. Vincent and the Grenadines

Kingstown, SVG: Reigning Miss National Carnival Queen, Kalia Huggins, copped the prize for Best Evening Wear at the Miss Carival Pageant in St. Vincent and the Grenadines but lost the crown to Miss St. Lucia, Roxanne Nicholas.

The pageant took place Friday evening at Carnival City in Victoria Park, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and is held as part of their carnival celebrations.  It was hosted under the banner ‘Miss Carival 2012 – 27 years of exquisite pageantry from 1985

The new Miss Carival, Roxanne Nicholas from St. Lucia was also awarded Best Talent. 1st Runner-up went to Miss St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Carice Glasgow who was awarded Best Swimwear.  Miss Trinidad and Tobago, Davia Chambers placed 2nd Runner-up and won the interview segment as well.

Segments that carried no points towards the final decision were Miss Congeniality which was won by Miss Venezuela, Astrid Martinez, Most Community Spirited which was won by Miss Anguilla, Olufunmike Banks-Devonish and Most Photogenic which went to Miss Barbados, Charlene Christmas.

As the newly crowned Miss Carival, Ms. Nicholas gets US$4,300 compliments the Carnival Development Corporation while second place gets US$1,300 and US$700 goes to third place. 

Last year’s National Carnival Queen, Iantavian Queeley, won the Miss Carival Crown and all judged segments in a sweeping victory.
