Inmate dies behind bars

Glen Webbe

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN):  Police are investigating the death of a prison inmate Monday morning.

Superintendent of Prisons Franklin Dorset confirmed to WINN FM that thirty one year old Glenn Webbe collapsed and died in the prison sometime around 7:30 a.m.  He said the Police were called and an autopsy would be conducted.  Mr. Dorset declined to comment beyond that, saying only that the CID would be conducting an investigation.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that Webbe had complained of stomach pains and collapsed during morning rations.

Webbe, of Cardin Avenue in Basseterre, was on remand having been arrested and changed in August for carrying abroad an offensive weapon.
