Tradewind Aviation Providing Nevis With Daily Flights To And From Puerto Rico

St Kitts and Nevis (WINN) Nevis is now benefiting from an additional 16 seats daily, following Saturday’s official launch of Tradewind Aviation’s daily service from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Nevis.

Deputy Premier and minister for Tourism Mark Brantley says although it is a premium service, locals are being catered for.

“Now it’s costly, but what we have persuaded them to do is to provide for locals a special rate, and they have announced a rate of US$200.00 one way for locals”.

According to Brantley, the price “is comparable to what the other airlines are charging for Puerto Rico”.

“So we are hopeful that not just visitors but also our local people both in St Kitts and Nevis will utilize this very important service,” he said.

According to Deputy Premier Brantley, many people complain about the difficulty of getting into Nevis, and the Nevis Island Administration – NIA - is trying to address the problem.

“We have seen situations in Nevis where because of high seas, even though planes could fly in and out, the boats (ferry service) could not run and Nevisians were in every sense marooned on the island of Nevis, not being able to get over to St Kitts in order to access flights there,” Brantley explained.

He says the NIA is trying to provide alternatives.
