Former SKTA employee convicted on larceny

St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Former St. Kitts Tourism Authority employee Wayne Clarke was on Wednesday convicted for the offence of larceny of EC$32,354.73 committed during November 2011 at the authority. Mr. Clarke of Nevis Street was convicted, was employed at the St. Kitts Tourism Authority as Senior Accountant/ Finance Manager.
The case was prosecuted by the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Mr. Travers Sinanan and Crown Council Miss Greatess Gorden. The DPP in closing speech told the jury that Mr. Clarke abused his powers as acting CEO to steal the money and attempted to cover his tracks, and he had no intentions to repay the money. According to the release the DPP argued it was Clarke’s intention to steal the money. The maximum penalty for this offence is seven (7) years imprisonment. Wayne Clarke was remanded in Her Majesty Prison, awaiting sentencing.
