(Jamaica Observer) The Government has been slapped with a $3.75-million medical bill for national athlete Michael Campbell who had not secured coverage under the Jamaican Athletes Insurance Plan (JAIP) and is now in hospital recovering after a nasty car crash earlier this month that claimed the life of his MVP Track and Field Club mate Jordan Scott.

According to a well-placed medical source, the bill ballooned after Campbell, who was initially admitted to the University Hospital of the West Indies as a public patient, was transferred to the private Tony Thwaites Wing of the hospital, as it was believed that he had JAIP coverage.
